In case you guys haven't seen it yet, we unveiled our brand-new, state-of-the-art, double-decker Tour Truck last night in downtown Austin, Texas. And this thing. IS. A. BEAST!
The size, scale, and technology packed inside this bad boy is only fitting, as it will serve as home base for our dedicated Tour staff to help the best golfers in the world like Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and the rest of Team TaylorMade get dialed in for the 2019 PGA Tour season.
The truck was inspired by the massive rigs seen out on the Formula 1 racing circuit, and was designed in collaboration with St. Louis-based industrial fabrication experts, Craftsmen Industries.
It features dual slide out pods and, for the first time ever, a second level for meeting space, making it the biggest, and first, of its kind out on the PGA Tour.
The truck weighs 22 tons, is 42-feet long, and has 12 individual player lockers on board. It has four 4K HDR televisions and a two-zone sound system, and features a modernized workshop equipped with multiple loft/lie machines, shaft cutters, and a dedicated gripping station.
Here's a breakdown of the new Tour Truck, by the numbers:
- 44,000 — weight, in pounds, of the trailer
- 35,000 — estimated travel miles the rig will complete in its first full year on Tour
- 1,500 — shafts on board
- 1,200 — TP5 and TP5x golf balls
- 1,000 — grips
- 700 — TaylorMade clubheads
- 500 — hats and t-shirts
- 450 — square feet of tinted glass
The truck will hit the PGA Tour circuit at this year's Masters Tournament.
Take a tour of the truck with our Manager of Tour Operations (and living legend) Wade Liles!
