When TaylorMade introduced moveable weight technology in 2005, it changed the driver game forever. It made it easier for you, the golf-crazed equipment junky, to adjust the club to fix your slice on the fly and find the short grass more often. However, equally if not more important, it gave custom fitters the ability to dial in performance with the twist of a wrench.
Then in 2013, the advent of the Loft Sleeve allowed golfers and fitters to adjust loft and face angle independent of each other – a critical benefit giving you a wide range of choices to achieve optimum launch properties.
So, for nearly 20 years, TaylorMade has provided fitters with the tools to maximize product performance and help unlock your full potential on the golf course.
We’ve done it again.
This time, it might not be as visible to you as a giant weight on the sole of the club, but it’s just as impactful. Our new SelectFit Kit lets fitters easily and effectively fit for loft and lie using a single iron head.
The previous fitting system required multiple heads for each loft or lie angle. Now, it can all be done with one head in each model, which saves fitters a lot of space and time. However, what does this mean for you? At your next TaylorMade iron fitting, you will be able to quickly and effectively test different loft and lie settings to find the right fit for your swing. A reminder that loft and lie are tested independently.
Need an iron that’s 3° flat then loft that’s 2° strong? We can help you discover it. Want to test an iron that’s 1° upright and then loft of 1° weak? With a few twists of the wrench, we can test both settings.
The biggest benefit is the ability to test various lofts in the same fitting session. Think about it, would you go to a driver fitting and not be fit for loft? Of course not, and you should expect the same with irons.
Having the right loft is critical for optimizing your set. Distance, spin, launch and gapping are all influenced by loft. So it’s imperative that fitters get it right, and TaylorMade fitters armed with the SelectFit Kit are better equipped to do so than any other locations. In fact, we’re the only equipment manufacturer to offer this technology at fitting locations, delivering a precision fitting experience that promises to accurately fit your irons for both loft and lie.
As the golfer, we know you’re less concerned with how it works and just want to know that it works. Trust us, it does. But for those you who are curious about the how, here’s a quick breakdown of the new SelectFit Kit.
The intuitive color-coded system allows fitters to independently adjust loft or lie to match the needs of the golfer. Each sleeve is visibly labelled LOFT or LIE, and the adjacent numbers are clearly positioned. Simply match up the arrows and away you go. It is recommended that you first fit for lie and then switch to fitting for loft. A reminder that loft and lie are fit independent of each other, and your final specs will be reflected in the delivered product.
