Tommy Fleetwood grabbed his seventh DP Tour victory at the Dubai Invitational, marking the first professional win for the new Qi10 driver. In a Team TaylorMade duel, Tommy narrowly edged out Rory McIlroy for the victory.
"It's always very special when you play with one of your friends, one of the best players in the world, challenging yourself against those guys. Rory's been a very, very supportive influence on me over the past. ... I've watched him do amazing things down the stretch in golf tournaments, and today was my turn."Tommy Fleetwood
Fleetwood vaulted himself into contention after a blazing third round 63 and set up the riveting “Fleetwood Mac” final round showdown. Tommy turned in back-to-back birdies on the final two holes to claim the victory.
He drove the ball on a string all week with his new Qi10 LS, averaging 313 yards off the tee and hitting 57% of the fairways.
“The biggest gains for Tommy with the Qi10 comes with really tight spin rates, especially on misses,” says Adrian Rietveld, TaylorMade Senior Tour Rep. “On misses, Tommy would normally get 3100-3200 spin, on this one he's getting 2700, which is huge for him because it means the distance is there. He's still getting a little bit of roll out of it.
“On the flush shots, he's gone from 10.5 or 11° launch at 2,600 spin, to now at 12° launch at 2,400 spin. When you add that up, that's a real game changer for him.”
