Scheffler and Morikawa will be Presidents Cup teammates for the second time in their careers and this will be their fourth team event together. Let’s take a look at the clubs that will be in their bags at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

SCOTTIE & COLLIN DRIVER COMPARISONS
Scottie’s Qi10 9.0° driver won eight times in 2024 and is the result of meticulous work between Scottie and our TaylorMade Tour Representatives. When Scottie initially tested each of the Qi10 driver models, the Qi10 was the most forgiving and predictable head for him. What intrigued him the most about Qi10 was ball speed retention and consistent spin rates on off-center strikes.
During testing WM Phoenix Open with TaylorMade Tour Rep Adrian Rietveld, the final box to check was taking the left side of the golf course out of play on mishits. A drive going left is the miss Scottie dislikes the most, so Rietveld adjusted the FCT loft sleeve setting to neutral upright. Nothing changed from a launch, spin or speed perspective. It simply allowed Scottie to see the loft in the head how he wanted visually and feel like there was zero possible “left” in it. The rest from there is history!
After gaming both the Qi10 and Qi10 Max drivers early in the season, including a T5 finish with the Max at The Sentry, Collin Morikawa made the switch to Qi10 LS 9.0° driver during practice rounds at The Masters. The lower spinning head produced the flight characteristics he preferred as his drives consistently produced the left-to-right ball flight he is known for.
That week in Augusta, Morikawa finished T3 and went on to finish in the top five in five more tournaments including the PGA Championship, the Memorial Tournament and the TOUR Championship.

BONDED FAIRWAYS = WINS
Both Scottie and Collin play Qi10 bonded steel fairway woods. Scottie only games one fairway wood, a Qi10 15.0° 3-wood that has been in his bag all season. He games a steel bonded fairway wood as opposed to an adjustable titanium fairway for a simple reason: titanium fairways spin too low and go too far (a wild concept for us mortals!). All but one of Scottie's PGA TOUR wins have come with a TaylorMade fairway wood in the bag.
Collin has a Qi10 18.0° 5-wood in the bag with an impressive wear mark (see below), to go along with his SIM 14.0° 3-wood that has won two major championships.
Bonded fairway woods have become a theme on the PGA TOUR over the last few seasons. This year, TaylorMade fairway woods have won 20 times on TOUR including 16 with a Qi10 bonded fairway.

PROVEN P·SERIES PLAYERS
Both players will have P·Series irons in the bag in Montreal this week. After playing a practice round with Tiger Woods at the 2020 Masters, Scottie decided to test a set of P·7TW’s. It was a simple “if Tiger is playing them, should I play them?” situation. Back home in Dallas, Scottie put the TW’s through the paces, put them straight in play and they haven’t come out since.
Collin has had an interesting (and successful) history with P·Series irons. There is the legendary story of his switch to a full bag of P·7MC’s at the 2021 Open Championship, which led to his victory at Royal St. George’s. Then, in 2023 he played his own custom set of P·7MB’s dubbed P·7CM’s. This season, Collin was one of the first players on TOUR to play P·7CB irons. It started with a prototype 4-iron and he then played a full set at the Scottish Open and The Open on links turf. Since returning from Scotland, he’s had P·7CB 4-6 and P·730 7-PW in the bag.
POTENTIAL MVP IN EACH BAG
If we were to predict what the MVP piece of equipment in each of Scottie’s and Collin’s bags neither comes as a surprise. For Scottie, it is his Spider Tour X L-Neck putter that ignited his historic run in 2024. Click the link below to read more about the oral history of Scottie’s Spider and get the full spec on his magic wand.
Collin’s potential MVP is not a golf club, instead it’s his TP5 golf ball. He is known to be an irons machine (as you can see in the video below), but that prowess comes from the control and performance of his TP5 golf ball. Collin has played both TP5 and TP5x this season and feels comfortable playing either ball. The construction of TP5 and TP5x allows him to feel confident hitting his patented cut and be able to create jaw dropping spin around the greens.
